Synera Renewable Energy Group (SRE Group or SRE) develops, builds, operates, and maintains offshore wind farms across Asia-Pacific and has an offshore wind pipeline of over 6GW. Aspiring to be the leading renewable energy developer across the region, SRE comprises businesses in Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea.

SRE is a leading offshore wind developer in Taiwan, having participated in all stages of the country’s offshore wind build-out since 2012. The company played an integral role in developing and delivering Formosa 1, Taiwan’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm with a total installed capacity of 128MW, and the 376MW Formosa 2, which achieved commercial operation in mid-2023. Additional projects, Formosa 4, Formosa 5, and Formosa 6, are currently in progress in Taiwan. In Northeast Asia, SRE is also developing 2GW of offshore wind in Japan and 840MW in South Korea.

SRE is headquartered in Taipei City, Taiwan, and supported by Stonepeak, a leading alternative investment firm specializing in infrastructure and real assets with approximately $80 billion in assets under management. Brand name history

In November 2022, SRE bid goodbye to the name “Swancor Renewable Energy” which had accompanied us for a decade and formally renamed ourselves “Synera Renewable Energy” to reflect our ambition of increasing development momentum and expanding internationally.

Combining synergy and era, “Synera” faithfully shows how our members have worked in solidarity to navigate challenges and dedicated ourselves to standing at the forefront of the new era of renewables to drive the net-zero transition for Taiwan, Asia, and the world as a whole.

The new name better represents who we are and what we aspire to attain in both domestic and international markets ‒ catch the wind from Taiwan and surf the waves toward the globe. Looking forward, SRE will continue building a greener world for all and seeking more partnerships to accelerate change toward sustainability.
